![]() This one is taken just after the mob started to break up. She loves them and they love her. She is a pastor in another congregation, and her heart is here as well. Suyapa is a lady that I am proud to call my friend. |
![]() This is the neighborhood that the facility is in. It is a death trap, and the center is a safe haven, where children can be loved, nurtured, protected and taught. There will be much more information about this ministry available soon. It is well run by well trained people, and led by pastor Suyapa, who genuinely care about the little ones in their charge. |
![]() This is the staff, meeting in the kitchen. Three ladies, who care for the littlest and most vulnerable. |
![]() Here is where learning and intellectual stimulus are the focus. These little minds are fed here with love and care. |
![]() The safety of the children, and the security of the facility when it is empty, demand that his wall be built higher. |
![]() These are the children that showed up on this day. Not every child shows up every day, but when they do, they get the best care possible under the circumstances. The boy on the end by Suyapa, gazing up at Hernie is the one who really tore my heart out when we left. He looked to me like he knew that someone was leaving him again, and that it had happened too mny times before. The man on the other end of the picture is pastor Victor, whose heart is big, his own problems take second place, and whom I admire very much. He and Suyapa (husband and wife) demonstrate a marriage given over to God. Good, intelligent, fun people in love with their LORD and His children. |
![]() The congregation was small, and the worship was very good. The person farthest away is the temporary president of the Lutheran Church in Honduras. |
![]() Here is Lesvin Fransisco Kauffman Flores, with the guy whose teeth are starting to show a growing coffee addiction. It sure is good here, though. This trend started in Miami, when to be polite I tried Aunt Leti's expresso. Like magic, I was converted from the closed world of non-coffee drinkers and initiated into the wonderful world of Honduran coffee. I now have my own epresso pot for making small cups of coffee, and cups to go with it. |

![]() On the left, with the guitar, is the pastor. In the doorway is Samuel, the community leader. In the middle are God's children, praying to their Father. Powerful worship does not need a big band or many people, as this day attested clearly. God loves His children, wherever they are. What a sweet, sweet spirit these people have. |
