![]() This is the new road, which transforms the look of the town. It is a wonderful thing to observe, and we could feel, as we walked, that the town was different here. It is not that the people will be suddenly transformed by the road, but, just as people coming from the U.S. to Honduras to share life and love and work and living for a time with new friends and old transforms all who participate, this road gives a new sense of value to the community, helps to give it identity and brings a new and greater sense of hope. I guess that you would have to walk on the road, to know what I am speaking of. It would be a first class road anywhere I have ever been, and I applaud them for their efforts, especially since they are lifting the standards everywhere around at the same time. The work that the community is doing throughout the area would take its own web site to properly tell the scope of what is happening in this area. The road is just a small part, an emblem of the people. Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, and this road reminds me that He did that for me. God bless. |
![]() This road is well maintained and would be considered perfect in most of Honduras, especially in the rural areas. It is being replaced little by little, to improve San Nicolas. San Nicolas, under the leadership of Angel Contreras (that's how I know him), has been catapulted onto a new level of living, mostly due to the efforts of the people, and with a small boost from their friends in the U.S. Schools, water, waste treatment (they have a recycling center!), housing, health facilities, electricity, good roads, and more are being instituted by the people of the area. Some of us got involved during a visit to Las Brisas to build a school with the community, and has transformed many lives, including more than a few people from the U.S., creating missionaries both from the U.S. and missionaries from Honduras. Praise God. |
